Saffron

Originate from Greece and Asia, the saffron flowers are known since ancient times, notably for their red stigma, which give the spice with plenty of medicinal properties, saffron. Historically cultivated in France since the Middle Age, the saffron flower is a little lilac to mauve flower.
The saffron flower stem from a bulb and its flowering follows the sun cycle. Indeed, during the flowering period, the flower drills the floor and grows as of the rising sun. The harvest has so to be quick, because throughout the day, the flower fades progressively, and died at the sunset.
